Eric Morecambe Statue

With the stunning backdrop of Morecambe Bay and the Lake District behind him, the Eric Morecambe statue is a hit with both locals & visitors to the area. The bronze sculpture is an iconic landmark on Morecambe promenade and was unveiled by the Queen in 1999. There is often a queue of people waiting to strike a pose and have their photo taken with the statue!

Midland Hotel

The Midland hotel is an internationally renowned art deco, curved building overlooking Morecambe Bay. Built in 1933, the building is a Grade II listed building and has recently been fully refurbished and restored. Well worth a visit for the spectacular panoramas across Morecambe Bay. A fantastic spot to watch the sunset over the Lake District fells (especially from the rooftop terrace!).

Lancaster Castle

Dating back to Roman times, Lancaster Castle has many a dark history and many a tale to tell, from incidents of religious persecution, the trials of the ‘Lancashire Witches’ and hundreds of executions for everything from murder to stealing cattle. The castle is owned by The Duchy of Lancaster (Her Majesty the Queen is the Duke of Lancaster), the Castle was also Europe’s longest serving operational prison until its closure in March 2011. There is also a varied programme of events and guided tours throughout the year so it’s well worth a visit.

Ashton Memorial

Ashton Memorial was commissioned by Lord Ashton as a tribute to his late wife. Built from Portland stone, with a copper dome, It was completed in 1909. The memorial dominates the skyline above Lancaster and provides amazing views of the surrounding countryside, across Morecambe Bay and the Lake District. Set in 54 acres of beautiful parkland, the park also features a cafe, shop and butterfly / tropical house.

Heysham Golf Course

Heysham Golf Club is a parkland course situated near to the historic village of Heysham. This North Lancashire course is within easy reach of the M6 motorway via the Bay Gateway and near to the coastal resort of Morecambe and the city of Lancaster.

The Par 70 course has stunning views across Morecambe Bay to the Lakeland Hills in the North, the Pennines to the East and across the Lune Estuary to Blackpool in the South.
